A recent article, published in the mivision journal, assesses the results of four studies which examine trifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) for treatment of presbyopia. The article explains that whilst classic multifocal IOLs are bifocal and dependant on two focal points (representing far and near working distances), lens designers have recently introduced a third focal point in the IOL optic aimed at providing better visual acuity at the intermediate distance while maintaining good far and near vision. Clinical Associate Professor Michael Lawless and Dr Rick Wolfe provide their comments on the evidence of trifocal IOLs for presbyopes.Read more
